Sony Ericsson G900 & G700 due for release in the UK

Thursday, March 13th, 2008

Sony Ericsson a re looking to bolster their smart phone offering with the introduction of the G700 and the G900. Both phones are identical in appearance, with the differences being that the G900 sports a healthier 5 mega pixel camera, compared to the G700’s 3.2 mega pixel offering, the G900 also has WIFI connectivity, which is a particularly nice addition in our opinion. They are the smallest and lightest UIQ phones that Sony Ericsson have produced making them more pocket sized than previous mobile phones, that they have produced.

The G900 and G700 both come with touch screens, but they have sensibly decided not to do away with the keypad as LG have done for the viewty and Samsung have done with the F700. This of course means that you can operate nearly all of the phone’s functionality by using the keypad.

A really intuitive feature is the post-it note application that allows you to write little memo’s and stick them to your screen. You than have the ability to send them via MMS or email to work colleagues. Coupled with handwriting recognition with the touch screen interface, it makes it very easy to jot things down whenever you want wherever you are. Both the G900 and the G700 are aimed at a more sophisticated audience, who are more practical in thinking. This is an area that Sony Ericsson has typically been fairly weak in, where its walkman and cybershot series has often flourished. Time will tell if these 2 phones will hit the mark.

Sony Ericsson G900 looks to be a winner

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

It seems like the world is going touchscreen crazy at the moment. Sony Ericsson has joined the party with the introduction of the G900. The G900 is a complete multimedia device that will support picture blogging, mobile internet and media management. A lot of the features are similar to those found in the sony ericsson k850i, with the exception being that the touchscreen will cover the entire screen rather than just the bottom. In theory this will allow you to jot notes down using the included stylus, there is no need for pen and paper any longer.

The G900 will come with a 5 mega pixel camera, which is a little disappointing, we were hoping that it would improve on the k850i’s rather standard 5MP offering, but sadly it’s not to be. The G900 is due to be released in Q2 of 2008!

Sony Ericsson K800i mobile phone review

Sony Ericsson K800i

The Sony Ericsson K800i is one of the most popular mobile phone in the marketplace today. Its camera is truly exceptional, packing a handy 3.2 megapixels cybershot with auto focus and my particular favourite the xenon flash. More about this later, but if you are looking for a well built phone with a good camera then you won’t go too far wrong with this one.

The first thing that stands out when you pick the K800i up is just how solid it feels. There have been so many occasions when I have picked a mobile phone up and haven’t had any confidence that it would survive one evening with me and a bottle of plonk. This phone is different. It feels heavy, but not overly so and as a result you have confidence that it could go 12 rounds with Mike Tyson and still live to tell the tale.

The Camera on the Sony Ericsson k800i is truly remarkable. Having used the Nokia N80 for a few months it was welcome relief to use a camera that would actually work in the dark. This is largely down to the Xenon flash that lit up by back garden whenever I took a photograph, why don’t all mobile phones come with Xenon instead of those utterly useless LED damp squib excuses for a flash?

The K800i is a 3g mobile phone, but is surprisingly slim compared to other phones in the 3g range. The keypad is well built and easy to use and the navigation is great as you would expect from recent Sony Ericsson offerings. The screen resolution is also excellent, meaning you can view your lovely photographs with considerable ease on its 2.0 inch screen.

The phone comes with an MP3 player, which is pretty standard in today’s world of mobile phone technology. It takes expandable memory, taking Memory Stick Micro up to 1G. Again I would stress that if you want music on your phone then a memory stick is well worth the investment at £30.

Overall this is a fantastic phone even today. You can now get some exceptional deals on all networks. Why not check out the latest Sony Ericsson K800i contract deals today?

Sony Ericsson W880i Review

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Sony Ericsson W880iThe Sony Ericsson W880i is our pick of the mp3 mobile phones. At only 9.4mm thick it is the thinnest 3g mobile phone on the market and it’s pretty light too weighing in at 71g. The 1 gigabyte memory card gives the user enough space to store 90 of your favourite CD’s, providing you with hours of entertainment whilst you’re on the move.

Navigation is done using a 5-way scroll key rather than the traditional joystick, that the Sony Ericsson phones are traditionally famous for. In our opinion this is a good move, as all too often the joystick was liable to break or get clogged with the contents of your pocket.

The phone’s casing is stainless steel and is available in 2 colours, black or silver. The W880i has an air of quality about it, its solid casing makes you feel as though you could drop it on a night on and it will live to see another day.

This is a 3G phone and as a result does benefit from 3G datastreaming performance. Things like Video-calling, music and Video Streaming are well within this phones capabilities. It’s camera is a bit of a let down at only 2 megapixels, in an ideal world we would have liked to see the K800’s camera fitted for the extra quality shots we have come to expect.

Where this phone really excels is in it’s music player. If you are looking for a phone that can also replace your MP3 player, then this phone could quite well be it! The sound quality is second to none and with a decent set of headphones the bass is really punchy. The included set of headphones is perfectly adequate, but you can attach a Bluetooth set should you choose to.

Overall this is a tidy little phone and should definitely be considered if you are looking to replace your phone and MP3 player with one unit.

Why not compare Sony Ericsson W880i on contract .
