I know that this blog has been a little static of late I can only apologise for that. I am now going to try and post on it every other day with news from the mobile phone world. The start of the year is usually pretty static for new handset releases, but we have got some really exciting mobile phones to look forward to during 2008. None more special than the Nokia N96, this is the first handset to come complete with a built in digital TV tuner. Sadly it looks like this feature will not be supported in the UK, but it is a massive step forward in terms of technology.
I think the thing to recognize here is convergence. It was always the way that multimedia was going to go, what with internet TV, online radio and mobile internet. The future will eventually see us able to access any form of media from any device, with each channel personalised to our personal tastes. Whether you think this is right or wrong will be a big debate in the future, indeed it is a hot topic at the moment and one that is growing in momentum with each passing day. Do you think that it is right for a company to collect data from you internet browsing, phone calling, social networking activity, GPS location and offer you products and services more tailored to you? I would be interested to know.
In a way this whole topic deserves a post in itself and I may in fact do that later this week. In the meantime check out the specifications of the Nokia N96 on Nokia’s site.
