Keeping Things Interesting with the Samsung Omnia HD i8910

May 1st, 2009 by Best Mobile Contracts
Omnia-HDWhen you’re after the perfect multimedia device with a saucy new operating system, Samsung Omnia HD i8910 definitely fits the bill. With the largest screen among the new smart phones today (3.7 inches!), this smart phone has the best view around.

You can get Samsung Omnia HD i8910 on contract after its release in the United Kingdom; expect great subscription plans from the likes of Orange and Vodafone.

Features and specifications

Unlike its older predecessor, the Omnia HD runs on a Symbian operating system, combined with a user-friendly TouchWiz user interface (Samsung’s own special touch). The TouchWiz was installed to make the interface similar to other Samsung phones.

As such, you can expect Samsung Omnia HD i8910 free gifts from providers once the mobile phone has been launched. The display’s resolution is a bit on the low side at 640 pixels by 360 pixels, though they could have gone higher (again, we’re talking about a 3.7-inch screen!).

Samsung-Omnia-HD-i8910-FrontWhat’s new with Samsung’s camera system? Well for one, you can now use your phone for panorama shooting, but we’re not sure that such 8-megapixels are enough for any panorama. Once it’s been launched, you can find Samsung Omnia HD i8910 on Orange along with other networks like O2 and T-Mobile.

HSDPA data downloads can reach speeds of up 7.2 mbps with the new Omnia HD. Apart from this, you have a beefed up internal storage of 8 gigabytes. If you’re unsatisfied with the eight, then you can expand your storage via the MicroSD slot. Double the fun with up to 32 gigabytes of extra storage.

Multimedia

The supported file types include:
  • DivX
  • Xvid
  • H.263
  • H.264
  • MPEG4
  • Real formats
For those who just love GPS, you’ll also find some map and navigation features in the phone, such as access to Google Maps™. The phone is a bit heavyset, with critical dimensions of 123 mm x 58 mm x 13 mm. Sim free mobile phones  are getting more popular, and units like Nokia E75 and HTC Touch HD are sure to take the country by storm.

The Omnia would probably be sold at around 800 euro in the UK.
