If you’re looking for a Smartphone that is both practical and functional then you may want to consider the Nokia 6121 Classic. With a launch price of around £200++ when it was released in the first quarter of 2008, you can now purchase a brand new 6121 for half the price. Although it is one of the smallest Smartphones in the market today, it still packs a load of features and functions that should satisfy your Smartphone needs. However, a good question to ask is how does the Nokia 6121 Classic fair as a multimedia device? The following paragraphs will attempt to shed some light on this subject.
Portable Media
To begin with the 6121 can store up around 2,000 songs as it has a microSD slot that has an 8GB maximum capacity. You can listen to these songs through the use of a standard headset or through the mobile’s loudspeaker. However, the latter is only a single mono speaker and won’t be able to play stereo. Nevertheless, it has built-in software that will allow you to adjust the equaliser and you should be able to play nearly all types of file formats. The camera is mediocre as it only has a 2-Megapixel resolution. Videos can be shot at a 320 x 240 resolution and there are built-in video editing software installed.
Conclusion
The conclusion is simple. The Nokia 6121’s multimedia capabilities are acceptable. Among other things it will allow you to store music and take pictures. However don’t expect a loudspeaker that plays sounds that are as crystal clear as Nokia’s XpressMusic Series (i.e. the highly-rated Nokia 5330 XpressMusic). Neither should you expect high quality photos produced by the likes of the Sony Ericsson Idou which has an astounding 12-Megapixel camera.
The bottom line is that the Nokia 6121 Classic is economical. It is best for people who need the basic functions of a Smartphone but are under a tight budget; multimedia buffs with more to spend will be better off looking elsewhere
