Those who are fond of using social networking sites will be pleased to know LG is offering a mobile phone that is dedicated to strengthening connections to online communities. The LG GT505 is a touchscreen mobile that LG claims is the first phone to offer push technology for social networking sites. This means users are immediately notified of updates from the networking communities they are registered with.

 

Users will also be able to update their status, edit pages and upload photographs directly from the phone. This certainly makes it quite easy for users to interact with their online networks. Additionally, this mobile device allows users to maintain both personal and business e-mail accounts. The LG GT505 comes with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync to support business e-mail. Other messaging features include SMS, MMS and push e-mail. 

 

The LG GT505 also sports a 5 megapixel camera that should yield superior quality images. This feature complements the social networking functions quite well as users are assured of shots that are worthy of uploading onto the Internet. The camera also has a geo-tagging function.

 

This mobile phone is outfitted with a GPS with A-GPS support and users who purchase this unit will be provided with a 30-day free trial of WisePilot, a turn by turn navigation application. WisePilot comes with voice instruction plus users have the option to choose between 2D and 3D mapping. The LG GT505 has WiFi and is 3G enabled providing up to 3.6Mbps HSDPA support. The phone also features Bluetooth 2.0.

 

Other features include an MP3 player, document viewer, voice memo and Java support. Owners of the LG GT500 may notice a few similarities with the GT505 and it would appear both are being marketed as mid-range devices. The LG GT505 was launched along with the LG GW520 just this May and should be available sometime this month through Orange UK. There is currently no official information as to pricing details.
