Samsung released the new Jet S8000 just this month for a very competitive price of around £135. Because of its advanced features and pc-like functionalities, a lot of folks are wondering why this device is not considered as a Smartphone. We’re not sure either. What we are sure of is that the Samsung Jet S8000 definitely has an extremely high eye-candy rating. Nothing New
A front panel dominated by a huge screen and a few buttons below it is not at all a new sight. A lot of devices have adapted the Apple iPhone’s design—including even Samsung’s own Omnia line. The Jet S8000 is no different. It also makes use of this highly successful design format and has incorporated a few additional niceties.
Aside from the 3.2-inch touchscreen display, the Jet S8000’s front panel also has a number of useful buttons. Aside from the usual call and end keys present, there is also a 3D cube that serves as the centre button. This button activates the Cube launcher—Samsung’s new addition to its commendable UI.
End to End
On the top side of the Jet S8000 you’ll find the standard 3.5-mm ear jack and a microUSB port which is the device’s main charging inlet. The left side of the mobile holds the volume rocker while the right side has the shutter key/task switcher button combo and the lock key. There’s nothing to write about the Jet S8000’s bottom except for the mobile’s mouthpiece.
From Behind
As usual, the 5-Megapixel camera’s lens is located at the back of the device accompanied by the familiar LED flash. Also present is the mobile’s loudspeaker grill which is equipped with a small nub that prevents the speaker from being muffled when the device is flat on the desk. Underneath the back cover is a standard Li-Ion 1100 mAh battery that will last for around 17 days on standby and should provide over 8 hours of talk time.
