Although it was released over a year ago (February 2008), the Nokia 6121 Classic is still one of the most popular Smartphones in the market today. Its features are similar to most Smartphones currently available; in fact, most Smartphones out there would flat out beat the Nokia 6121 Classic in a head-to-head comparison of features and functions. Its memory capacity is average (maximum of 8GB), its camera is at best mediocre (2-Megapixels), and it does not even support GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity. And yet, the 6121’s fame continues to rise. You might wonder: why is this so?
Less is More
The first reason is because of its size. With a 105 x 46 mm surface and weighing only 89 grams, the Nokia 6131 Classic is surely one of the smallest Smartphones in the market today. In fact, you could easily mistake it with one of Nokia’s older non-Smartphone models. In terms of size the Nokia E71, TIME Magazine’s Smartphone of the year for 2008, pales in comparison with a 114 x 57 mm surface and weighing 127 grams.Money Counts
Another important factor is its price. When the Nokia 6121 was initially released early last year, it had a price tag of around £200. At that time it was one of, if not the cheapest Smartphone in the market as it rivalled the price of non-Smartphone devices. Today, you can get a brand new unit at around £100—one fifth of the price of the much anticipated Nokia N97 Smartphone.
What the Nokia 6121 Classic lacks in function, it makes up for in size and value. This mobile is perfect for those who need the basic functions of a Smartphone but do not have too much to spend. Surely, shelling out a hundred Pounds for a quality Smartphone is more than a bargain.
