LG has reiterated its intentions to establish their position in the mobile phone industry as big players with the recent announcement of the LG GW300. After wowing the market with high end mobiles such as the upcoming LG Louvre GC990, Samsung has come up with a entry level device in the form of the new GW300. Aside from a myriad of impressive features, this device comes complete with a full QWERTY keyboard which has made some critics claim that the GW300 is actually a Smarpthone on a budget.
Measuring Up
At first sight, the GW300 actually shows a lot of resemblance with TIME Magazine’s Smartphone of the year for 2008 which is the Nokia E71 – the main attraction being the full QWERTY keyboard. Much like the E71, this device too aims to improve the users’ overall messaging experience by providing them with an excellent means of composing their messages. Aside from being quite attractive, the GW300’s keyboard is primarily a top of the line messaging facility; may it be for composing emails or updating your Facebook profile page (a handy app pre-installed in the GW300 is a fully integrated Facebook app that allows one-click access).
Smart Features
Other than a pre-loaded Facebook application on the LG GW300, this device will also be equipped with full email support. As of yet, reports regarding 3G compatibility on this device is unconfirmed. However, what we are sure of is that there are other data connectivity options for users such as EDGE, GPRS, and Bluetooth. All of these work well with the GW300’s QWERTY keyboard and sizable 2.4-inch QVGA display; users will not have any problems answering important client emails while on the go. However, it would definitely be better if Samsung were to include Wi-Fi support on the GW300.
