The LG GW300: A Mystery in the Making

August 15th, 2009 by Simon

lg-gw300One of the few things we’re currently sure of regarding the new LG GW300 is that it will someday be released. Everything else seems to be shady and LG has kept us all in the dark. However, after doing some research we have come up with some information on the mysterious GW300. Here’s what we have so far.

Confirmed

LG has released a series of photos of the GW300 as well as the shortest of spec lists. Based on these we can confirm that the GW300 will be sporting a full QWERTY keyboard. This is definitely a pleasant surprise considering the fact that the GW300 is set to be released as an entry level device. This is combined with a 2.4-inch screen that will display QVGA resolution at 240 x 320 pixels.

Bluetooth connectivity and EDGE/GPRS support have also been confirmed. The LG GW300 will also come with e-mail clients compatibility (will work well with the QWERTY keyboard) as well as a handy Facebook application for all the social networking butterflies out there.

And Then Some

On the other hand we have also dug up a myriad of unsubstantiated information regarding this seemingly enigmatic device.

For starters, some reports claim that the GW300 will come with 3G connectivity while others blatantly refute it. To be on the safe side, we’re not taking any sides. The mobile’s camera also remains an unanswered question. However, we’re pretty sure that it won’t be sporting a 12-Megapixel camera. No way. A 3.2-Megapixel snapper is more believable and it is likely that the GW300 will be equipped with a camera of this or similar caliber.

Also a mystery is the GW300’s release date and price. However, based on market trends we’re fearlessly predicting a Q4 release on the device with a price tag of around £170.
