Fashion phones don’t always have the best functional features. It’s usually common to see a full-featured mobile phone to come in a svelte sexy form that puts its fashion elegance as an afterthought. But it works. Sony Ericsson is capping its busy year with an elegant clamshell phone that’s both functionally capable and a real looker besides – the Sony Ericsson Jalou.
Coming with the Aino and Satio phone by the last quarter of the year, the Jalou is the most modest in terms of features. But it more than makes up for that with a truly striking aesthetics. Sporting a contoured clamshell with gem-inspired faceting all around, the Jalou will come in a choice of subdued colors again inspired from gemstones: Aquamarine Blue, Onyx Black and Deep Amethyst.
A Trio of Pioneering Features
Apart from its usual competitive functional features like a 3.2 megapixel camera with geo-tagging, 3x digital zoom and video light for video recording, stereo FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, and a NetFront browser that supports YouTube, instant messaging, Google apps, Web feeds and social networking sites, the Sony Ericsson Jalou sports some firsts for the company’s mobile phone portfolio:
- There’s a unique user interface that automatically changes with the Zodiac signs and special events in the year.
- A mirror key transforms its modest 2” TFT QVGA LCD screen into a compact mirror that allows you to check your looks when you need to while working with the phone.
- There’s the WalkMate step counter or pedometer that’s quite useful when monitoring your walking or jogging exercise regimen.
Dolce & Gabbana Fashioned It Up
Not that a sleek fashion phone like the Jalou needs one. But there will be a limited edition Sony Ericsson Jalou dressed up by fashion house Dolce & Gabbana with 24k gold trim on a subtle rose coloured body to bring it one notch higher as a high fashion accessory. It will come specially packaged with a special earphone and exclusive D&G items.
