South Korean mobile phone manufacturer Samsung has just made an official announcement pertaining to the release of the company’s new 12 mega pixel camera phone, also sporting a 3x optical zoom lens, and known as the Samsung AMOLED 12M, or the “SCH W880″. There are so far no official details about the handsets release date across the wider world, however it will be released in Korea sometime in early October, and it is speculated that the rest of the globe wont be too far behind.
The impressive new camera mobile phone was unveiled just three months after Samsung’s Pixon 12, the company’s first 12 mega pixel handset, became official. The new Samsung AMOLED 12M has the latest technologies in the camera field, as well as an impressively large 3.3 inch AMOLED touch screen display that has a WVGA 800 x 480 pixel resolution.
The mobile phone’s 3x optical zoom lens is a first for a 12 mega pixel handset and is expected to allow users to take high quality photographs even at great distances. Naturally the phone also uses a 2x digital zoom option, allowing for even greater close up shots. Our favourite function is the high quality video recording capabilities; this device can shoot 1280 x 720 pixel at a neat 30 frames per second.
The mobile phone also includes Blutetooth 2.0, USD 2.0, DMB TV, a built in 4GB of memory with a microSD slot supporting an additional 32GB and measures 115.8 x 56.9 x 16.3 mm – however we’re pretty confident that no one will be buying this model for its good looks or large memory, especially when 12 mega pixels is currently greater than the majority of digital cameras that wont cost you an arm and a leg.
