A Turn Towards Simplicity
For those people who are sick and tired of all the confusion that technological advances present, there is a new mobile phone that is bringing everything back to the basics. The Sony Ericsson XPERIA Pureness offers people a phone that is focusing its functionality on “talk, text, time” philosophy, forgoing other elements that they believe are unimportant. Although it is marketed under the XPERIA name, it is not a smartphone; in fact, it is the anti-smartphone, turning back into simplicity rather than extensive functionality.
The Design
This mobile phone comes in a simple, yet elegant design that, as the name suggests, tries to embody calmness and the purity. In fact, Sony Ericsson was so bent on giving people “a holiday from technology” that they consider this phone as art, rather than a piece of handheld technology, and designed it as such.
The bottom half of this mobile phone appears to be a basic candy bar design except that it is more stylish, and invokes soothing feelings. When you pan up, you see the beautiful transparent screen, with the monochromatic display being shown on the top of the screen, making it appear to be floating out of thin air. Overall, its design conjures up images of clarity and purity and does turn away from the congested and flashy feel of technology.
Its Functionality
As far as functionality goes, this simple phone does not have a lot of other features aside from the core applications of a mobile phone. Sony Ericsson has kept mum on its features but it is suggested to have quad-band GSM/EDGE support, Bluetooth connectivity, music playback (or an FM radio), as well as basic call and text features and might even have a camera module.
Surely, Sony Ericsson has in its possession a very special phone; one that brings everything back to a simpler time, when the world was much slower and mobile phones were not as vital to the lives of people. For those who are yearning for the good old days, this is the mobile phone for you.
