Nokia expands its line of GPS equipped handsets and upping the ante with a refurbished 5800 handset. The re-tuned 5800 version comes with preloaded lifetime license for a voice-guided satellite navigational system. It also comes ore-installed with latest Ovi Maps. These features also provide instant information at your fingertips such as local traffic situation and weather reports.
The Usual 5800 features
The Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition basically sports the same 5800 touchscreen smartphone features, minus the pre-installed “Comes With Music” apps. The focus now is its advanced GPS features but not to worry, there are still a lot of sophisticated features to revel at.
- It’s your basic quad band GSM with 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA for fast internet browsing and downloading runs on the latest Symbian platform S60 release 5.0.
- You get a gorgeous 3.2“ QVGA TFT resistive touchscreen that supports 16 million colors, a proximity sensor that turns off the touchscreen sensitivity when the handset is held against your face in a call, and an accelerometer for automatic portrait and landscape viewing
- Stereo FM radio with RDS receiver, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR with A2DP for wireless stereo headphones and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g for fast wireless data downloads come standard.
- There’s a 3.15 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss lens, 24 fps film quality VGA recording and a secondary VGA camera at the front for 3G video calls.
- The shared 128 MB internal memory can be expanded up to 16GB with its microSD expansion slot.
Availability
Dropping its Xpress Music branding, the new Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition gets unveiled in the European markets this fall at the €285 price point and should attract the navigational techies who love to go around places they don’t know how to get to. Its sales package comes with a car charger, an 8GB microSD card and a car mounting kit, among the usual Nokia kit contents.
