Mobile Phone Review: The LG GW550

October 2nd, 2009 by Best Mobile Contracts

LG GW550The LG GW550 is a smart phone with a full QWERTY keyboard, multiple connectivity options, streamlined features and a simple user interface. All in all, it’s a pretty good phone to have, but the front facing keyboard can be a little hard to use. While using a touch screen may seem more sensible, this mobile phone lacks that feature. This little factor may prove to be the GW550’s undoing in this age of touch screen mobile devices. Aside from that little quirk, this phone delivers and should prove useful to anyone.

Having a full keyboard does make writing messages faster and working on the go a lot easier. Speaking of working, this model seems to be targeted towards the working class with its all black finish and serious look.

The Mobile Office

This mobile device is built more doing office work than anything else. With the lack of a touch screen, multimedia functions downplayed and with the full screen keyboard right out front, the GW550 is a smart phone with a specific purpose. It uses Windows Mobile standard as compared to Professional, so hopefully the operating system is upgradeable. Aside from this little snag, you will probably be happy packing this little phone on your way to the office. It handles word processing fast and easily, though it may have problems running software that require some serious hardware.

Getting Used to the GW550

It is small, light and easy to handle, using the GW550 will be pretty easy for anyone who has used a mobile phone before. LG has designed a decent keyboard for this phone, though users with large fingers might still find it hard to use. This peculiarity of full keyboards is often remedied in other touch screen phones with slide out keyboards on the side. The sideways alignment give that much needed space.
