More Teasers: the LG GD510 Pop

October 21st, 2009 by Best Mobile Contracts

LG GD510 PopLG is making the touch screen phone more accessible to everyone with its line of full touch screen phones. Since the release of the LG PRADA last 2007, LG has been at the forefront of touch screen technology. While they do not seem to be using dual touch yet (we would love to see that), their line of full touch screen phones are certainly worth looking forward to.

Limitations

Of course, having a sole touch screen and nothing else can be quite a challenge. The presence of dual touch would have certainly helped in some applications. All in all, not having analog controls and shortcuts to complement touch screen input is a bit jarring for people who have been used to using other conventional touch screen devices. New touch screen users on the hand would have less of a problem adjusting to this.

Cheaper Touch Screens

The best thing about losing the keyboard and buttons is that the LG GD510 has less hardware and is easier to manufacture. The bottom line is that this phone is much cheaper. The phone is also significantly slimmer and lighter, making it easier to handle than other devices. Of course, you will have to use two hands for this device since it is the analog controls that enable single hand phone usage.

The Final Word

With a confirmed 8GB of storage, a 3 mega pixel camera, a 3 inch touch screen and full media playback capabilities, the LG GD510 Pop is certainly heading in the right direction. This mobile phone has the makings of a good multimedia device, just add in a good browser, WiFi and HSDPA and you are ready to go. The GD510 will definitely be a niche phone, but it is going to be a pretty big niche that it will fill.
