The Nokia Booklet 3G is the latest device from mobile phone giant Nokia. Now, most people are already used to the pretty crazy stuff that Nokia has been designing for mobile phone users. Their line of GSM devices runs the whole gamut. Still, Nokia has some pretty interesting and worthwhile devices. Among these is their take on the laptop, the Nokia Booklet.
Silly Name
Granted that Nokia is new to the laptop scene and “Booklet” is hardly an impressive name, that is all on the surface. Nokia has put careful consideration on how the Booklet will be made, what features it will have and how it will look. Size is the best feature for the Booklet. It is very slim, with the total thickness not going over 2cm, this laptop can compare with some of the thicker mobile phones. The screen is 10 inches wide, so do not expect slipping this Booklet in you back pocket, but it will slide most easily in most laptop pouches.
Too Small?
With it’s slim size and small monitor, you might think that this laptop can be replaced with a pocket PC, however, the design does work for people who are on the go. Pocket PCs and smart phones are still behind laptops in terms of capabilities and processing power. Overall, Nokia made a sound move creating the Booklet.
Mobile Phone Technology in a Laptop
One of the more intriguing add-ons to the Booklet is the inclusion of A-GPS technology. You will not be using this laptop as a navigation device, it is just too big to be carried around in that way. Not to mention that the battery simply does not give you that much freedom as well. While the battery is reported to be able to last for over 10 hours, that does not compensate for using features such as GPS, as well as the addition processing power for map programs.
