With the average touch screen phone costing well over a hundred quid, the full touch screen based POP from LG is priced below 100, making it one of the cheapest touch screen devices out on the market. While this is easily one of the most stylish phones for its price range, one has to wonder if the functionality is actually worth the price. I personally will get this phone for the show-off factor. To whip out a touch screen phone in public is a status symbol that is priceless, but that is for me, and not everyone may agree. After all, mobile phones are more important for their function and not for their image.
How much price do we really put in the image of our gadgets? Many people would actually go the extra mile for a device with the color they prefer or a look they find good. This also affects which devices sell better. With touch screen phones looking like clones of each other, devices that add a little variety in terms of aesthetic style are getting a lot of attention. Naturally, devices that are both stylish and hardware heavy are bound to be sought after and hitherto, expensive.
I would pay a significantly higher price for a device of equal hardware but better looks to the Pop; most definitely so. To quote a movie, our material possessions should not own us. Our gadgets do not define who we are, but with public visibility aside, one cannot ignore personal vanity. This is the factor that truly drives me and many other individuals to get a great looking device. Phone manufacturers know this and like LG, they know how to make the most of this market. A touch screen phone with average features will still attract a large crowd with a low price. Partially due to the amount of functionality you can get from a touch screen, but more importantly because of how it looks.
