Nokia N97 Mini Review

November 30th, 2009 by Best Mobile Contracts

Nokia N97 Mini 1Released only shortly after the Nokia N97, the Nokia N97 Mini is everything its big brother should have been. It has very similar specs to the powerful original but also has a smaller, more attractive body – plus the updated software has made a few choice little adjustments to the device’s useability.

Our favourite thing about the Nokia N97 Mini mobile phone is simply the fact that it feels so great and natural in your hands. The original N97 felt just slightly too large for comfort, but Nokia remedied that this time around, with the handset being 8% smaller than before. Despite the size reduction there is a very respectable 3.2 inch touch screen display, (downsized from 3.5 inches,) although the memory did take a knock; the original had 32 GB while the Nokia N97 Mini only has 8 GB.

Besides our slight annoyance at the memory cut back, we don’t really have much else to be dissatisfied about; however many users are complaining that the full QWERTY keyboard is, (if you can believe this,) too BIG! I’ll admit that if it were smaller then a D pad could probably have been squeezed in there, but frankly the well spaced out keys and lack of a “squished in there” type feeling more than makes up for it.

Besides the obvious draws of the Nokia N97 Mini, there is also Nokia Messaging, which can support up to ten different push email accounts, including Hotmail and Gmail.

As you’d expect there are also a number of widgets letting you quickly and easily access your MySpace, Facebook and Twitter – something no 2009 mobile phone is complete without.

All in all a great handset, with what I would call a perfect keyboard.
