Pureness is Transparent and 3G?!

November 10th, 2009 by Best Mobile Contracts

prenessOkay, there is good news, there is great news and there is the kind of news that would make you high five with your left hand and face palm with your left. Just recently, this little article on the XPERIA Pureness has revealed that the transparent, see-through display of the Xperia pureness will be giving an entirely new way of viewing the web; right through it. Personally, I love having more features whenever it is possible. If there is space on the phone or the hardware is not maximized to its’ full potential, I consider that a waste. Still I draw my line at pushing the technology too far.

Without a doubt, the Pureness has the RAM and processing capability to not only run web browsing software, and it is also a very capable 3G device. You might even be able to run some apps if the operating system supports it. The Pureness can, no doubts about that. The deal is, will you actually use it to browse the internet? The fact that this mobile phone’s most unique element is a transparent display should be a red flag for any form of graphic intensive activity.

X5_1The readability of text should be perfectly fine under good lighting, but forget images and pictures. The monochrome display can only do so much, even if this is in 32 bit grayscale, there are limits to how much eyestrain we should endure.

When I first saw the Pureness, it was reported to be a simple GSM device with nice music playback capabilities, a 3.5mm audio jack and of course, the scandalous see-through display. Now I see that it has turned into a bizarre 3G device with the old Sony Ericsson FastPort slot on the left. So much for aesthetics and charm, expect this device to raise a lot of eyebrows when it finally launches at the end of November.
