Here is a deal, you top up your SIM card by £10 each month, and you get unlimited text and internet access for that month. I say go for it. T-Mobile is letting subscribers sign up for this deal until January of next year and anyone would be foolish to pass this up. It’s a great deal. £10 is consumable and you get messaging and internet for free.
This deal would not work if it was just messaging alone or internet alone; you would also need a mobile phone with a web browser for this to be of any worth to you too. Oh, and do not forget, you have to be the kind of user that actually accesses the web in the first place. If you are not the kind of mobile user who accesses the web, just pass this up.
I do expect clogging on the network, with a lot of people getting disconnected all the time. Do not plan on making large downloads too since I bet the network latency will be really bad. Still, there is a lot of convenience in this deal that just stands out to me. T-Mobile announcing free internet and messaging certainly raised my eyebrows.
What does this mean for T-Mobile? Most would think that it is part of promoting the new Google Android mobile phones. Still, my argument is that people who want the android have money and rarely need to take part in deals like these. These, unlimited access offers are more to attract a new market than for retaining the existing group. Well, it is unlikely that T-Mobile is in any hot water, but they are up to something. Seems like a new T-Mobile phone is in the works somewhere; I’m expecting an announcement this Christmas or the month after.
