The Samsung Genio Pro is part of a new series of mobile of mobile phones from Samsung. It has a full slide out QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, 7.2 HSDPA and a 3 mega pixel camera. The Genio Pro is a sharp looking and straightforward touch screen smart phone. The internal memory is only 120mb and you will be hard pressed to buy an SD card to complement this.
What We Think
The Genio series is just another smart phone. Maybe we are already flooded with mobile devices that there is not that much room for variation. Even the look and feel of the Genio Pro does not stand out. If Samsung decided to come out with a full multimedia mobile phone, then that might have gotten our interests piqued. As it is, there really is no more room for another generic mobile phone.
Too Casual for the Office
For a mobile device targeted at young professionals the Genio Pro is hardly anything spectacular. It does have Wi-Fi and HSDPA which means you can get connected online easily, but that is a feature that you can expect with every other smart phone. Second, if Samsung misses the market of the average young professional. The phone lacks the sophistication and the edge of their other devices. In the end, the Genio Pro simply ends up as the stoic and bland sibling of the Genio series.
What Samsung Should Have Done
As said, a multimedia smart phone from Samsung would have totally been right on the mark. Every other device with a full QWERTY keyboard can run desktop publishing apps. If they really wanted a mobile phone that was different, then HD would have been a good choice. The bottom line is that getting this mobile phone is only an option when you just need a quick replacement for your broken smart phone. Otherwise, look for other options to upgrade.
