Well, the Nokia E75’s firmware just got updated and it is quickly leaving the older E72 model behind in terms of features; but hey, the E72 is still a great phone in its own right and now, it is heading for the United States. It is not travelling alone either, the N97 Mini is also making its US debut.
Well, technically, the devices are already there. Dell and Amazon are already offering their clients the N97 Mini. Nokia’s Online US store currently has the E72 –SIM free.
The original N97, as some of you may have heard, is suffering from so many problems that it has been pulled out. The problems range from the usual to the annoying, from minor loading slowdowns to absolute annoyances like freezing, customer support on various online sellers have started to address the issue by referring people to the smaller, faster and more efficient Mini (which is great, since the N97 reportedly has some problems where a single image would take minutes to load).
The N97 Mini shares many of the features of the bigger original, with the exception of the internal memory. The N97 originally has 32GB of storage while the Mini has 8GB. It’s a big reduction, but 8Gb is still plenty for a smart phone even today.
The E72, as mentioned, is already behind the E75, but that is not to say that the device is outdated. It is still a practical smart phone to have and at a price of 469 US Dollars, that’s a good price for a smart phone with plenty of features, and a physical keyboard.
The N97 Mini retails for 479.99 US dollars, not quite as cheap as you might want for a phone with a “Mini” in its name, but in terms of performance and practicality, it surpasses the original in every way.
