SE to Release New WinMo Greenheart Phone

January 14th, 2010 by Simon

Sony Ericsson FaithMore than the Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA and U-series, the Greenheart line of mobile phone is probably the most impressive of all their devices. Given the fact that the XPERIA X10 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at a speed of 1 GHz, it still does not match up to the fact that Greenheart phones are made of over 50% recycled plastic. At the end of the day, the greenheart devices are more future proof that most other high-end mobile phones.

But that notion should never imply that an eco friendly device like a Greenheart gadget cannot be high-end. The upcoming Sony Ericsson Elm and Hazel are testaments to having excellent hardware and features with green-engineering. Now, Sony will push the envelope further with the new Greenheart Sony Ericsson Faith. This new Greenheart phone will come with a physical keyboard and the latest WinMo 6.5.3 operating system.

This is definitely a smart phone through and through, showing the world that there are no limitations to green engineering. For those of you wondering why SE has decided to make a new WinMo phone, it is because the OS is still perfect for many business purposes. The basic formula for an enterprise phone is to have a physical keyboard and either the BlackBerry OS, Palm OS or the WinMo OS.

One valid worry is that SE has not had a good run with Microsoft platforms. The original XPERIA X1 had a lot of problems and the X2 kept getting delayed due to technical problems. Still, there is a lot of great promise with the upcoming Faith. With Windows 7’s launch expected to be this year, it’s a perfectly great reason for Sony to stay on the Windows race.

Sony Ericsson’s Greenheart phones are made from over 50% recycled plastic, use no hazardous chemicals and the product packaging uses minimal paper products (the manuals are in digital format and are installed into the device).
