Two new Walkman mobile phones have been unveiled by Sony Ericsson, which combine high quality sound with social networking.
Adding to the 130 million+ Walkman phones which have been sold globally, Sony Ericsson has added two new affordable models to its range with the twin strengths of music and easy access to sites like Facebook and Twitter.
The Spiro and the Zylo are good-looking slider handsets with curved, palm-friendly designs. The keypads let you control your music and your communication effortlessly.
Marketing business manager at Sony Ericsson, Jenny Maltesson said: “The Sony Ericsson range of Walkman phones has seen tremendous success since it was first launched in 2005 having sold more than 130 million handsets to date – and we are still seeing a great appetite from consumers. Today’s announcement aims to satisfy this demand by making the Walkman phone range available to a wider audience.”
She added: “By combining the best of the Walkman functionality with a myriad of social networking capabilities, Sony Ericsson Zylo and Sony Ericsson Spiro offer consumers the chance to access and get a taste of what our Communication Entertainment portfolio has to offer.”
The Sony Ericsson Zylo (pictured top left) is ideal if you love listening to music and chatting with friends at the same time – as you can do both with this phone. And the Zylo comes with various sounds pre-installed so you can pretend to be anywhere you want when friends call, in a pub, walking along the street or even at work. The handset also debuts the FLAC format which ensures superb sound when you’re making the most of the Walkman music player.
The Zylo has TrackID so you can identify any song you hear when you’re on the move and access to PlayNow music store. Other features include an FM radio and a 3.2-megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom and geo-tagging. Connectivity wise, there is dual-band HSPA and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support. The screen measures 2.6 inches and the handset measures 103mm x 52mm x 11.5mm, and weighs 115g.
The Spiro (pictured right) comes with TrackID, PlayNow, and a 3.5mm audio connector. The dual-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE phone features an FM radio and a 2-megapixel camera with 2x digital zoom. The Spiro is a compact slider with a 2.2 inch screen and a frame that measures 92mm x 48mm x 16.75mm. It weighs 90g.
The internal memories of both the Zylo and the Spiro can be increased to up to 16GB via a microSD card.
The Walkman phones will be released in early Q3. The Zylo will come in Jazz Black, Chacha Silver and Swing Pink, and the Spiro in Contrast Black, Sunset Pink, Spring Green and Stealth Black.
