Well, the title is a bit of bad pun, but we certainly mean every meaning of it as Sony Ericsson has finally announced that they are coming out with a brand new Walkman phone. SE’s Walkman handsets have been pretty consistent in delivering a music playback experience that is unmatched by their competitors. This major news update brings a definite degree of joy to all music buffs waiting for the next Walkman device to be announced.
In a slightly more interesting note, there are actually two Walkman devices that are coming, though considering the features of the two phones, it is likely that the Zylo will be getting most of the attention.
The two phones will be named Spiro and Zylo. Both will come with the Walkman music playback capabilities and more importantly, that impressive Sony design aesthetic. The phones are shaped and formed stylishly, with line edges and curves that fit almost clothing fashion.
The Zylo is getting extra attention because the device delivers integrated social networking tools for Facebook and Tweeter (if you are a media buff looking for a mid range social phone, you might prefer this over the Microsoft Kin handsets).
Aside from bringing music with you, you also get to send audio to your friends –with a very clever twist. The device actually comes with preset background noises ranging from office to street to restaurant, providing users with the appropriate sounds to mask their current location –an excellent way to keep stalkers away.
Back to Zylo’s integrated features, the can also upload and share videos and photos taken with the device instantly. It links up to Picasa, Flickr and YouTube –which means that you should open an account on those sites if you plan on making the most out of this device.
