It’s square. It’s Android. And Motorola is expected to launch it imminently. Meet: the Motorola FLIPOUT.
Leaked on Italian blog HDblog.it, the so-called FLIPOUT is an unusually square handset and comes with a swing-out QWERTY keyboard. Of course, there is already the recently-launched BACKFLIP phone from Motorola, and if rumours prove true the FLIPOUT could be joining this social networking-with-a-twist handset.
The BACKFLIP phone is also an Android-based mobile with the MOTOBLUR interface which features Live Widgets. The novel handset can be flipped backwards to reveal the keyboard and the back of the screen doubles as a touch panel for controlling the touchscreen without leaving fingerprint marks on it.
Judging from the leaked snaps of the FLIPOUT, the phone looks pretty pocket-friendly and brightly coloured, looking to come in three colours.
Other features of this yet-to-be-officially-announced handset include the MOTOBLUR UI, Google’s Android 2.1 OS, and a 2.8 inch touch-sensitive screen. There is a 3.1-megapixel camera onboard the FLIPOUT and it is powered by a 700MHz processor and 512MB RAM. The phone also has support for GPS and a microSD slot inbuilt. And there is, of course, that QWERTY keyboard behind the screen.
Although still at the rumour stage, the Motorola FLIPOUT is anticipated to launch in the US in June time.
