If you’re longing for an affordable Samsung touchscreen phone, then you’re in luck – Samsung has just launched the Champ.
With a 2.4 inch resistive touchscreen and a compact design, the Samsung Champ is said to be the cheapest ever touchscreen device to be introduced by the company. It follows the likes of the Genio but is even more affordable than this 2.8 inch phone.
The Champ is not alone with the status of “super-affordable touchscreen” and joins the likes of the Alcatel One Touch XTRA and the as-yet-unconfirmed by LG KS365 phone. Both these handsets sport a 2.4 inch resistive touchscreen and come with social networking integration but no support for 3G or Wi-Fi connectivity.
In terms of features, the Samsung Champ runs the TouchWiz Lite interface and has access to the Samsung App store for browsing and downloading extra apps and games onto the handset. There is a microSD slot with capacity for up to 8GB, which is good for apps and for data – you can keep images taken on the phone’s 1.3-megapixel camera or video, and store music on the inbuilt MP3 player.
The Champ has both stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio connector so you can listen to music whichever way you want to. Being compact – 103 x 56.5 x 12mm – means you can easily carry it with you and the battery life supports up to 12 hours of talk time or up to 660 hours on standby.
This new touchscreen phone also has Bluetooth and USB connectivity support. Samsung has not released the price of this budget handset yet but it is anticipated to be low.
You will be able to choose between having the Champ in black, brown, pink or white, when the phone reaches the market – this is estimated to be in June. When released, we’ll have various Samsung Champ deals for you, and before then you can read our Samsung Champ reviews to find out more.
