The LG Town GT350 is the first in a series of so-called Town mobile phones the company intends to release, all focused on messaging and social networking ability.
The idea behind the Town Series of phones is that each centres on SNS (social networking services) so users can maintain communities or “towns” of friends and social groups.
With a similar look as the LG KS360 handset and same screen as the newly launched Cookie Gig phone, the Town GT350 has a 3 inch resistive touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard. There are four rows of keys and customisable shortcut keys for accessing your favourite sites like Twitter and Facebook.
All the latest communication from your social networking sites are streamed onto the home screen and you can hit the refresh button when you want to view the latest updates.
This 2G messaging device has support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and the internal memory can be increased by using a microSD card to up to 8GB. There is a basic, 2-megapixel camera onboard so you can take quick snaps on the move – and then upload the images onto Facebook or send to friends via email or MMS.
Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said in the company’s press release: “The LG Town Series is the result of our effort to provide consumers with an exciting on-the-go social networking experience with better connectivity and easier access to the people who matter the most to them. Starting with the LG Town GT350, the series will offer instant access to a multitude of social networks, providing users with the kind of smart, smooth integration they have told us they want.”
