Germany will be getting to try out Motorola’s newest Android novelty handset this coming July. According to Motorola, the Flipout will be available in German territories next month and that it is estimated to have a price tag of 350 Euros.
It may seem expensive, but the Flipout is certain a much more enticing handset than the Motorola Backflip (which is a really odd form factor), and the features are more balanced out. Still, some tech fans would argue that buyers would be able to get a smart phone with better hardware for that price. In any case, here is a quick look at the various hardware specs and features of this low to mid range Android handset.
The screen is a modest 2.8 inch TFT capacitive touch screen display. The entire screen sits snugly in the center of the handset and provides users with a clear and crisp view of the device’s Motoblur user interface (Android purists will once again hate the use of a custom UI). At least Motoblur adds in the functionality of custom made live widgets –which can be fitted in with social networking content allowing you to see the latest posts and updates instantly. Speaking of social networking, the smart phone gets users connected instantly to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace thanks to integrated apps.
With a 3.2 mega pixel camera with geo tagging and face detection, users can easily take photos and upload them to the internet. Sadly, the lack of LED flash and autofocus will require users to get good lighting and have a steady hand. The camera can also take videos at 26 to 30 FPS too.
The device also comes with a TI OMAP3410 600MHz CPU, an 1170 mAh battery, a slide out QWERTY keyboard and the Android 2.1 Éclair. Overall, the Motorola Flipout is a pretty practical smart phone for anyone looking for a unique looking handset.
