Samsung-Corby-i5500Samsung’s Corby series of handsets is considered to be one of the most successful handset product lines of the Korean manufacturer. While these Corby/Genio handsets are not exactly featuring the best hardware available, they provide an excellent balance of specs, features and most importantly, price –which makes them quite appealing to many fans.

With a motto of making the smart phone accessible to every man, Samsung’s new Bada operating system seemed to be the new mobile platform of choice for the company for mid range devices. After they showed the Wave smart phone, Samsung let it known that they are working on four low to mid range handsets that will be using the Bada OS as well –it seemed that Samsung’s Android and upcoming WP7 handsets will be focused on the high end market.

Now, it seems that Samsung sees plenty of market potential for the Android operating system. They have just announced that Samsung Corby i5500 smart phone and it will be running Google’s open source mobile platform and come packed with plenty of features.

The device will be running on a proprietary 600MHz CPU, it is fast enough for the Android OS though if the platform will be updated to 2.2 Froyo, it may not be good enough to handle some of the heavier Flash content.

The two mega pixel camera comes with geo-tagging and video recording capabilities so users will be able to send and upload their media to their favorite social networking sites. The handset also comes packed with integrated social networking tools for checking on the latest updates and posting your own comments and Tweets.

For the Android fan on the budget, the Samsung i5500 Corby is an excellent smart phone choice; it brings together a stylish look with practical functionality. Despite the watered down hardware, it still comes with plenty of great features.
