Nokia X5-01 Deals Expected to Arrive in Q3

June 16th, 2010 by Caroline

Nokia X5The newly launched Nokia X5-01 phone is anticipated to arrive in the UK during Q3 2010.

Nokia unveiled two brand new X-series smartphones during the Nokia Connection Event in Singapore this week – the Nokia X5-01 and the Nokia X6 8GB handsets.

The X6 8GB is the “baby brother” to the popular music device, the X6, which is currently available in 32GB and 16GB versions. This mobile is also anticipated to launch in Q3.

With a square design that resembles a MiniPlayer, the X5-01 is a music-oriented phone with a slide-down QWERTY keyboard. Unlike the Motorola FLIPOUT which, as the name suggests, has a keyboard that swings out, the X5-01’s design means when it’s open, it is fairly BlackBerry-like in concept.

Among its features are a 5-megapixel camera, social networking apps, dedicated music keys and up to 32GB of storage space. There is a spin-to-shuffle feature which lets you spin the phone to shuffle the songs. And there is access to Ovi Music and, in some areas, to Nokia’s Comes With Music.

Nokia describes the device as sitting somewhere between the X3 and the X6, and on the company blog, adds: “But this is also a social media maven’s mobile. There’s a full QWERTY keyboard under the dashboard, ready to deliver tweets, status updates and text messages at your convenience. The device supports all the major IM and webmail services out of the box and also offers easy access to major social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and Hi5). The camera offers 5 megapixels, 4X digital zoom and an LED flash. Onboard memory comes in at a modest 200MB, but there’s a 2GB Micro-SD card included, which can be upgraded up to 32GB. Like most recent mobiles from Nokia, the battery life also looks impressive, with up to 16-days standby time or 24 hours music playback from a full charge.”

Anticipated to launch in Q3 for €165 before taxes and subsidies, we’ll bring you X5-01 deals when they become available.

And the Nokia X6 8GB is expected to launch at a similar time and cost in the region of €225 before taxes and subsidies – once confirmed, we’ll also have Nokia X6 8GB deals for you.
