Rumor Mill: Motorola’s Milestone 2 is Looking Good

June 21st, 2010 by Liam

Motorola-XT720Snapped images and leaked on the internet seems to be the common fate shared by many upcoming devices this year. From the looks of it the ones that pertain to Motorola’s Milestone 2 are pretty impressive.

Okay, in terms of looks, not much has really changed. Gone is the new sleek look that we saw on the Milestone XT 720, the Milestone 2 is bringing back the slide out QWERTY keyboard –which will make many Motorola fans happy. The device will also have better hardware as well. It is said that the new smart phone will come packed with a 5 mega pixel camera, a better keyboard layout which gives more space and most importantly, a faster 1GHz CPU.

This much needed update to Motorola’s most successful Android smart phone has been long in the making –devices of similar specifications have already been launched earlier (the 1GHz CPU with 5 mega pixel combo is already present in the Nexus One, HTC Desire, Galaxy S and others), but all of the previous handsets lacked a physical keyboard.

As stated above, the device’s external appearance has not changed much –which is a great thing since the original Milestone looked really well. The Android handset has a very rough yet futuristic feel (though the smoother, shinier look cuts down on the ruggedness of the Milestone).

The best part of the new Android smart phone is that it will come out loaded with the new Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. With the new OS, the performance of the platform is expected be running at least two times faster. Android Froyo will also have better Java support which allows for faster browsing of up to three times faster. Additional features include tethering support, turning the handset into a WiFi hotspot and most importantly, native support for Adobe Flash.
