The slimmed-down BlackBerry will shortly be available on Vodafone as BlackBerry Pearl 9105 3G deals are “coming soon”.
Boasting the familiar BlackBerry technology inside, the Pearl 3G is a slim handset that debuts a non-QWERTY keyboard. The first BlackBerry to have an alphanumerical keyboard, the 9105 3G model differs from the 9100 3G version which comes with a half-QWERTY set-up.
“The Pearl 3G has just 14 keys – but still gives you all the control you need,” as Vodafone describes the smartphone. “Type with ease. Glide your finger over the trackpad to get at everything on screen. And use dedicated media keys to go straight to your music or videos.”
Compared to the BlackBerry Bold 9700, the Pearl 3G is both light and small. The phone measures 108 x 50 x 13.3mm and weighs just 94g. As it still offers BlackBerry Messenger and ample business features including support for ten email addresses, the Pearl 3G is an attractive alternative for those wanting a compact professional mobile.
The design of the device is modern and unusual for a BlackBerry, with a curvy keypad layout. This ensures the Pearl 3G is not thought of as simply a business smartphone. There is an MP3 player together with a 3.5mm audio jack and dedicated music keys; and access to the BlackBerry App World for downloading social networking apps like Facebook and Twitter as well as various features and games.
As the name implies, there is good internet connectivity so you can get online swiftly, and always have emails to-hand. The document editor means you can open Word and Excel documents from your phone and make changes on the move. There is also a 3.15-megapixel camera with LED flash for capturing images and footage.
