Breaking Down the Leaked Roadmap

July 14th, 2010 by Liam

nokia-x6With the web now full of updates and news of the recently leaked 2010 mobile phone roadmap, figuring out which devices are coming out on which months have become quite confusing. To help make sense out of all the jumbled info, here is a quick rundown of how things are expected to unfold this second half of 2010.

This July, Sony Ericsson and Nokia are going to be targeting the mid range mobile phone market with the Nokia E5 and the Sony Ericsson W20. It has been reported that the Nokia E5 will be following the same style of the previously released Nokia E71 and E72 (which is not surprising, the three devices are all in the same series). Sony Ericsson’s new handset for July is the W20 Walkman phone. The roadmap also lists the Samsung i5500 Android smart phone as due to be out this month.

On August, we will be seeing a couple of UK region releases. The 8GB version of the Nokia X6 and the Nokia X2 are part of the Espoo based company’s Sony-Ericsson-Yendoupcoming lineup. The Blackberry Curve 9300 is also listed, bringing RIM’s first big entry for Q3. The Greenheart smart phone, Sony Ericsson Hazel is also slated to be released on this month.

The roadmap does not list any device for September, but the October and November devices are certainly worth the wait. October will be seeing a second wave of Android handsets from HTC: the Vision and the Ace (the Vision is the very first HTC made Android smart phone with a QWERTY keyboard). Sony Ericsson also has the mid range XPERIA X8 and the Walkman Yendo.

On November we will be expecting several Windows Phone 7 handsets; the HTC Gold is already on the roadmap, as well as the Samsung Cetus and the Nokia E7.
