The latest Motorola Milestone mobile phone is set to be available in the UK this week.
Although Motorola Milestone XT720 deals are not currently on offer through network providers including Orange, O2 and Vodafone, one retail site (Clove) has details of the smartphone’s availability as “Due for release w/c 19/7”. So you haven’t got long to wait if you’re keen to buy this handset.
The successor to the original Milestone, the XT720 is slimmer as there is no QWERTY keyboard onboard. The screen measures 3.7 inches, the same size as the first Milestone, and is capacitive for a responsive experience. This version of the Motorola smartphone concentrates on multimedia features. You only need to glance at the XT720 and spot its distinctive design elevation on its right-hand side, to be reminded of its high quality inbuilt camera.
The Milestone XT720’s 8-megapixel camera comes with autofocus, a 10x zoom and Xenon flash. The video recorder can capture 720p HD video footage; and the HDMI option means you can playback recordings on your HD TV. This places the phone’s camera almost on a par with the Nokia N8’s, albeit with not as many megapixels – but still with the potential to replace your existing digital camera. The 8GB internal memory can be increased to 32GB via a microSD card so you should have ample space for your images, videos, music and data.
As a high-end smartphone, it’s easy to share your images with your friends. You can upload directly onto social networking sites, email, MMS or send via Bluetooth. Based on the Android 2.1 platform, the XT720 – as detailed in our Milestone XT720 reviews section – comes with plenty of features pre-installed including Google Maps and YouTube. And there are thousands more in the Android Market for you to browse and download onto the device.
