Nokia X6 and X3 Get a Firmware Update

nokia-x6Owners of the Nokia X6 smart phone are getting a major update. The new patch, which updates the OS to version 21.0.004, will be giving the handset plenty of useful new features, app updates and most importantly, performance enhancements.

The X6 will be running faster and smoother with the new patch, according to reports, the update is meant to focus heavily on stability but it also allows the OS to load a little quicker than usual. Other enhancements include a browser update which brings it up to version 7.2.5.2 –which is basically just a quick performance boost. New apps include Shazam 2.5 (which is only free for 30 days) and they also updated Mail for Exchange to version 2.9.210 as well. The video telephony is also included in the new update. Speaking of Shazam, a couple of other new functions have been thrown in as well. The Rihanna service launcher will be added up along with the Gimlet Touch 2.2.

Nokia’s Ovi Store is also getting an overhaul with the following new improvements to the software. Components that will be getting an update are Ovi Music, Ovi Sync 2.0, Ovi Store 1.5.6, and Ovi Contacts 1.50.8. As stated above, the update will be improving the performance of the features affected.

The X6 handset will also be getting updates to the Flash player, though not to version 10.1 (which is out for the Google Android 2.2 Froyo). The handsets will be getting Flash Lite 3.1.7x. There’s also a new functionality that is getting enabled too, the Side Lock Key will now be compatible with the swipe user interface allowing users to easy lock their phones.

The Nokia x3 is getting a minor firmware update, this one enhances the battery charging visual notifications and it will also be updating the ring and alert tones for the handset.
