The New Generation of Android Smartphones
LG isn’t exactly one of the first manufacturers that comes to mind when talking about the makers of the premiere Smartphones in the industry. This accolade has got to be given to the likes of the Apples and the Blackberries who have definitely changed the game in the world of mobile phones.
However, LG isn’t exactly that far behind. In fact, they just added a new line of devices to their growing arsenal of Smartphones. Just last May, the manufacturer launched the first ever Optimus Smartphones in the form of the LG Optimus Q. It was then succeeded by two other Optimus mobiles which both hit shelves in June.
These were the LG Optimus Z and the LG GT540 Optimus. And now, LG has decided to nearly double the population of this particular series by confirming the upcoming release of the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One. Here is a preview of these two mobile phones and how they just might propel LG into the limelight of the Smartphone industry.
Lots of Speculation
Just recently, LG released a press statement that announced their intentions to expand their current Smartphone line up in a bid to flex their muscle in this particular market category. The new Optimus line of devices is seen by the company as the beginning of a new era that aims to simplify the lives of its consumers.
LG understands the fact that we all live in an information-driven world which is why their new devices will cater to this specific need. This new campaign includes or perhaps is spearheaded by the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One.
Together with its predecessors and successors (it has been said that LG intends to have at least 10 models in the Optimus line within the next couple of years), the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One also aim to give their users what they need, when they need it.
While the recent press release may have been quite exciting, the sad part of it is that it gave very little away regarding the mobile specifications of these new Smartphones. This is why we are left to speculate on what’s in store for us when it comes to the features of the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One. Both devices will surely sport a mid-range camera, Wi-Fi, and perhaps a few unique features that could surprise us. However, one thing we’re sure of is that both of these Smartphones will be equipped with the all new Google Android Froyo. This is the newest version of the famed operating system and based on its previous performance, the addition of this in its feature list will be a definite advantage for any mobile phone.
Froyo-ed
As mentioned earlier, there isn’t too much information out there regarding the full spec sheet of the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One. However, knowing that it will have the new Google Android Froyo in board is enough to get anyone – Android enthusiast or otherwise – excited for the imminent launch of the mobiles.
Version 2.2 of the famed Android operating system is the newest edition of this OS and it hopes to be bigger than the craze that currently surrounds frozen yogurts. However, the Android Froyo is going to be anything but a fad as it holds all the enhancements from Androids of past which have definitely made their name in the industry. In general, this version sees enhancements in all aspects of the OS – memory, speed, and of course, overall performance.
In terms of the applications installed, expect it to be much faster as well due to the Froyo’s shift to the JIT or just-in-time implementation. We will also see improvements in the Wi-Fi department not only in hotspot functionality, but also in the built-in browser. Now, the developers have integrated a V8 JavaScript engine for the Chrome web browser, thereby improving the overall browsing experience for the users.
Email support has also been further developed in the Froyo OS as it features increased support for Microsoft Exchange. Functions such as remote wipe, calendar synchronization, and enhanced security policies have all been added, making emailing a breeze.
With the Google Android Froyo on board the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One, we can all expect good things from these mobiles. Hopefully, both will be able to live up to all the hype that is brought about by such a remarkable mobile operating system.
The Market Matters
Today, market segments are no longer as simple as high-end and low-end. Aside from the emerging mid-range market, all these segments can also be classified into “sub-segments” thereby making it more complicated not only for the mobile phone manufacturers, but for the consumers as well. It has happened all too often that mobiles seem to get lost in the abyss of come-and-go devices that have very little to no impact at all in the market.
One of the primary causes of such failures from the manufacturer is their inability to pick the right market segment for their specific devices. Although it is true that pricing is one of the most important factors, in today’s world it also holds true that it (price) is no longer the be all and end all of a consumer’s decision. Having said that, consumers can benefit greatly from LG Optimus Chic deals and Optimus One deals on offer from online retailers.
By the looks of things though, it seems like both the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One have gotten it right in this regard. As a matter of fact, the whole Optimus line by LG seems like it has found its niche in the market and has decided to stick with it.
Being an entry-level Smarpthone is no easy task. The challenge for a manufacturer is to include all the impressive features one would expect from a Smartphone while balancing it with the costs involved so that they are able to price their device appropriately.
There is no word yet on the actual price tag of the LG Optimus Chic & LG Optimus One once they are released, but based on the positioning of its predecessors, it looks like these Smartphones are going to be very reasonably priced.
