When the 2010 mobile roadmap first came out several months back, it was easy to say that the HTC Ace was the most uninteresting device from the Taiwan based mobile phone maker. After all, nobody knew anything about the handset at all. Since the listing also had plenty of devices that people at least had a clue about –especially the HTC Vision with its impressive slide out QWERTY keyboard (a much lacking feature for many Android handsets), the HTC Ace was all but ignored.
Now, it has been revealed that the HTC Ace is none other than the device that is being called as the Desire HD –which is a major upgrade to the HTC’s flagship Android smart phone for this year. Packing a large 4.3 inch AMOLED capacitive touch screen display, this new smart phone is everything that a media fan could want of an Android device.
As one would expect, the HD in the name really does mean that plenty of focus has been given in providing the device with powerful media playback and recording hardware. The screen alone has been upgraded from just being 3.7 inches to a larger 4.3 inch screen (which makes it comparable to the Samsung GT i9000 Galaxy S and the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10),
The handset also comes with an 8 mega pixel camera with auto focus, dual LED flash, geo tagging and of course, 720p HD quality video recording. Sadly, the device lacks an HDMI output port which would mean that playing back recordings on a larger screen would require users to transfer the video files manually.
The best part about the new handset is that it has been confirmed that it will be running Android 2.2 Froyo (still using the HTC Sense UI) and that it will already come pre loaded with flash compatibility.
