The Nokia N8 smart phone is eternally delayed; just a day ago, it was confirmed that the phone would not be launching on the end of August, but it has been pushed back twice, once to September and more recently, to an October launch.
In any case, since folks are already losing interest in the upcoming Symbian^3 smart phone, it is good to realize that Nokia has another N-series handset that is going to be available near the end of the year: the MeeGo powered Nokia N9.
For those unfamiliar with the MeeGo operating system, this is a new mobile platform that has been developed by Nokia’s Maemo team and Intel’s Moblin developers. The result is a new operating system that incorporates the best of both platforms and a little more. It will still be using open source technology so users should be careful about the apps and features that they choose to install.

Anyway, leaked images of the Nokia N9 have been uploaded across the internet and it seems that the device is going to be sporting some rather impressive features –the most interesting of which is the slide out QWERTY keyboard. Many note that the color and layout is quite similar to the Apple MacBook, and that is not a bad thing, at least it follows the gray color scheme as opposed to the rest of Apple’s all white Mac devices. In any case, having a physical keyboard is superior to having to rely on an onscreen virtual keyboard.
The camera will be an 8 mega pixel snapper with 720p HD video recording. There are no other details yet on the rest of the hardware but the presence of a mini HDMI port is certainly a great sign that the hardware will be updated. The device is expected to come out by December of this year.
