The rugged device from Samsung has launched in Germany for €129.
The E2370 is a compact and simple handset that focuses on price and toughness over technology and apps. Not one to compete with the iPhone 4 or upcoming Nokia N8, the Samsung E2370 prides itself on a long battery life and IP54 certification.
While it is not as tough as the Sonim XP3 Sentinel which is built for lone workers and is extreme in its ruggedness, the E2370 provides a solution for those wanting an outdoor phone – for trekking or camping, perhaps. The IP54 certified casing can withstand water, shocks and dust although it is not waterproof. This means you can make a call and not be overly concerned with the elements – and twinned with the battery that lasts up to 67 days on standby, the Samsung E2370 would make a reliable second handset or appeal to those who value simple mobile communication.
The screen is small on the E2370 and the features are minimal. Our reviews section mentions that the mobile phone covers the basics, however. There is an FM radio and MP3 player onboard together with speakerphones; a VGA camera and Bluetooth connectivity.
Similar in design and ability to the Samsung B2100 and B2700, the E2370 sadly lacks GPS connectivity. However, the price tag is small and the emphasis is on straightforward calling and texting with additional practical features including a built-in flashlight.
Available now in Germany, Sweden and Russia, E2370 deals should reach other European countries shortly – we’ll keep you posted.
