The new Samsung Wave 723 is a lot like the previously announced Samsung Wave 2. The current designation for this handset is S7230E and from the looks of it, it might just be a prelude to the next big Wave device to be launched. Overall, we cannot say that we are overly excited to see this handset, though we certainly believe that it will be a great seller for the Korean phone maker.
Once again, the Bada OS is providing itself to be the mobile platform that caters specifically to the low end market. While there are also Google Android smart phones that have low end specs, the price tags are rarely as budget friendly as Samsung’s offerings –which gives the Bada plenty of advantage. Also, low end users rarely care about the operating system in use. This takes away the Android’s initial advantages over Samsung’s mobile platform too.
In terms of specs, the Wave 723 is a simple mobile phone. First off, the screen is your standard 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touch screen display. The size is average for a modern day smart phone and naturally, capacitive touch technology is the current standard for newer devices. With a resolution of 240 x 400 it is sitting right alongside the Wave 2 devices in terms of practicality in design and function.
Being a Bada run phone, the TouchWiz user interface will serve as the user’s primary interface and it will be giving users access to all of the phone’s features. These include web browsing, media playback, GPS and all the usual things one would expect. There’s a nice little bonus on the 5 mega pixel camera –which is a solid notch better than the camera on the Wave 2 devices. It even has geo-tagging and smile detection features as well.
For those who are curious about this handset; the Wave 723 has a tentative launch date this coming September.
