Android News: XPERIA Updates, Desire HD Specs and Optimus Launch

September 14th, 2010 by Best Mobile Contracts

We have got three major news updates for all Android smart phone fans, and depending on your favorite phone manufacturer, there is certainly something to watch out for this month of September.

First things off, Korean phone maker LG has confirmed that the LG Optimus One and Optimus Chic are going to be released tomorrow. The official launch will herald both handsets and show the world what new Android phones LG has been cooking up since earlier this year. It may be recalled that during the first half of 2010, the phone maker has stayed out of the radar working on its’ devices.

Next up is Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA series of Android devices. While the X1 and X2 are Windows phones, the X10, X10 Mini, X10 Mini Pro and the X8 are all Android devices. However, despite being impressive devices, all phones are still running the Android 1.6 operating system. Right now, the only update available is for the XPERIA X10 and it will only be for the Android 2.1 Éclair -not for the 2.2 Froyo. It is believed that the Froyo update will be on its way but for now, focus is on getting the 2.1 released on all the phones.

Last on the news list are the confirmed specifications for HTC’s newest Android monster phone: the Desire HD. This smart phone is quite impressive with its 4.3 inch (presumably AMOLED) capacitive touch screen display, an 8 mega pixel camera and at least 8GB of internal storage. So far, the CPU to be used in the handset has yet to be confirmed though many believe that it will be running on speeds of over 1GHz –with Qualcomm promising faster chipsets almost every week now; that is no longer quite surprising.

Many believe that the HTC Desire HD would be released before the end of the year.
