Android Price Tag Watch: Galaxy Tab and IDEOS Prices Revealed

September 6th, 2010 by Best Mobile Contracts

While the Huawei IDEOS’ price tag is still unconfirmed at this point, initial estimates are already placing the handset at a possible price range of 150 Pounds to below 100. This is going to make the IDEOS as the cheapest Android smart phone available. While that title is not really something that should stand out, the fact that the device has been designed to run Android 2.2 Froyo is certainly worth mentioning.

According to reports, the new smart phone from the China based electronics manufacturer is definitely heading to the UK this coming October and might just force other manufacturers to lower the cost of their low end devices.

Currently, Huawei’s Android offering is considered to be the cheapest in any market and with the initial specs of having a 2.8 inch capacitive touch screen display, a 3.2 mega pixel snapper and the Android 2.2 OS, it will be one tough offering to match. The IDEOS will also be offered in a wide range of colors.

Meanwhile, the price tag for the Samsung Galaxy Tab touch screen tablet has finally been revealed. According to reports, the 7 inch Android monster is slated to hit store shelves with a massive 679.99 Pound price tag. With a cost that high, this Galaxy is certain to put a black hole in your pocket.

The question now is, is it worth it? If you do not need a tablet device, it is a hard investment to make. But for those who consider the iPad as a worthwhile purchase, then you might want to funnel your resources into the Galaxy Tab instead.

The Android operating system is hands down, far more functional than Apple’s iOS, and the tablet hardware are a great match for each other. While Samsung has a much smaller touch screen at 7 inches, it is far more manageable and more natural to read eBooks on (it is roughly the size of a standard paperback).
