LG has announced its two new Androids, the One and the Chic, will arrive in the UK in the next few months.
Both Optimus handsets run on Google’s Android 2.2 Froyo OS, and so can be used as portable Wi-Fi hotspots. Coming with Froyo also means the LG smartphones offer a faster internet experience and greater support for multitasking. And Google Mobile Services including Google Goggles and Google Shopper are compatible on these mobiles.
Skott Ahn, CEO and president of LG Mobile Communications Company said: “LG is offering the gateway into the smartphone world with the LG Optimus One and the LG Optimus Chic that offer the distinctive benefits of smartphones, in intuitive, approachable packages. LG has a vision of helping people access information fast and easily, no matter where they are. We believe the Optimus series will play a significant role in accomplishing our vision.”
Similar in specifications, the Optimus One has a 3.2 inch touchscreen, a 3-megapixel camera, FM radio and Bluetooth connectivity. Described by LG as “the perfect entry point for prospective smartphone owners”, the One also features a friendly UI and the LG App Advisor which recommends ten rated apps each fortnight.
The Optimus Chic, as the name suggests, focuses more on fashion and boasts a “sleek and minimalist look”. The device comes with LG Air Sync for wirelessly synchronising your contact information, images, music and data with your PC.
Optimus One deals are expected in October in the UK, while those keen to get hold of Optimus Chic offers will have to wait until November. There is no word yet on which network providers will offer the new LG phones but we’ll confirm details as soon as they are available – in the meantime, you can share your views on these handsets over in our Optimus One customer reviews and Optimus Chic reviews pages.
