Nokia have today announced a new trio of Symbian^3 smartphones to join the much anticipated Nokia N8. They are the Nokia C6, Nokia C7 and Nokia E7. This is a strong move from Nokia in their efforts to keep Symbian as the most used mobile phone platform in the world, despite the significant pressure applied by Google Android, Apple iOS and Blackberry OS. The latest incarnation of Symbian is being hailed as faster, more intuitive and more powerful than any previous version, which is a solid start. Now on to the handsets:
In Brief – The Nokia C6
The Nokia C6-01 (not to be confused with the already released C6) is the smallest and most affordable of the bunch, but still manages to pack a 3.2inch AMOLED display into its sleek design. Expected to retail at around £215, this smartphone should bring all the joys of the latest Symbian platform to any budget.
In Brief – The Nokia C7
The C6-01’s big brother, the Nokia C7 combines a larger 3.5 inch AMOLED screen with a focus on stylish design and the all-important and ever popular social networking integration. This handset should retail at about £280, making it a serious competitor for anyone who wants a bit more bang for their buck.
In Brief – The Nokia E7
Definitely the top dog of Nokia’s latest trio, the Nokia E7 has a very impressive 4 inch touch display and is aimed squarely at serious smartphone users with its slide out full QWERTY keyboard. Serious clearly doesn’t mean dull here, though, as the E7 has a striking design of smooth curves and bright colours. Expect to pay around £410 retail for one of these beauties, though we fully expect Nokia E7 deals to be plentiful and affordable.
We’ll keep you posted on further details as they emerge.
