White HTC Phones Now in the UK

September 30th, 2010 by Best Mobile Contracts

Not surprisingly, the local release of the white versions for HTC’s latest Android smart phones has been in demand for quite some time now. Finally, the Taiwan based phone maker is obliging the market and is releasing the white version of the HTC Desire and the silver version of the HTC Wildfire.

For now, there is no specific launch date that has been declared, but interested buyers will be happy to know that pre-order slots are finally open with the lowest contract rates for the handsets coming out at 15 GBP per month. Expect to have the Desire at 200 GBP and the Wildfire at 30 GBP for that rate –also, it would be a good idea to go for a good data plan as well to maximize the device’s internet based features.

And once again, we are all baffled as to why the demand for white smart phones is so strong. It was pretty much noticeable with the iPhone 4; the demand for the white version of Apple’s next generation smart phone practically overshadowed the news about the device’s antenna issues early on.

The same practically applied for the Samsung GT-i9000 Galaxy S Android smart phone. The device was pretty much impressive in its own right, sporting great specs and a killer super AMOLED touch screen, but that was not as big as the news that the Korean phone maker had a white version of the same handset in the works.

Anyway, people will finally be able to enjoy HTC’s two leading Android handsets (no news about a white version of the HTC Legend so far) in all white versions in the next few weeks.

Speaking of the HTC Desire, it is already ready for updating to the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system. Networks Vodafone, Orange Mobile UK and T-Mobile UK have all confirmed that their downloadable updates are up and running.
