The previously rumoured addition to the Acer Liquid range of high-end smartphones has been made official – and given a UK release date of mid-November.
The Acer Liquid Metal is coming to the UK with an expected price tag of £299. This isn’t at all bad when you consider the phone’s premium design and features.
The Liquid Metal runs on the Android 2.2 platform and sports Acer’s Breeze UI. This has been especially designed to let you manage your applications more easily. You can view information even when the screen is locked, for example, and you can see your app history for quick selection and launch of the features you want. And of course, you can customise the home screen with your favourite apps too.
Talking of apps, in addition to the thousands available in the Android Market, the Liquid Metal comes with the SocialJogger app which links your Twitter and Facebook accounts and delivers updates straight to the home screen.
In terms of multimedia, this device is capable. There is a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, autofocus and HD video; Dolby Surround technology and Dynamic Bass Boost; and support for DLNA/UPnP for sharing your content via your PC, TV or games console.
Acer said: “Designed for all those who live a modern, dynamic, and fully integrated lifestyle, this is the perfect tool to meet the growing need to be connected anytime and anywhere. Thanks to extremely quick web surfing and an incomparable use of multimedia contents, these dreams become reality.”
Acer Liquid Metal offers are due in the UK next month, and the phone will be offered in a choice of two colours: brown and silver. The brown Liquid Metal arrives in mid-November and the silver version in December. Once we find out more on the launch date and which network providers will be selling this phone, we’ll let you know.
