Mobile News in a Flash: Today’s Highlights

October 8th, 2010 by Best Mobile Contracts

Mobile news in a flashFirst up on list of big updates is the upcoming October 15 opening of pre orders for the Nokia N8 Symbian^3 smart phone. The device was originally set to come out last April but has been delayed so badly that it appeared that the phone might no longer be released. Anyway, Finnish phone manufacturer Nokia has confirmed that the handset is indeed going to come out later this October –on the 22nd.

Speaking of the Symbian OS, it seems that Samsung has officially cut ties with the mobile platform developer Symbian Foundation so that they can focus on the Bada, Android and Windows Phone 7 platform. This is a bad sign for the continuing lack of market interest in Symbian handsets.

With Nokia now focusing on the MeeGo platform, it is possible that they too might abandon the Symbian as well. Sony Ericsson has made a similar announcement, stating that the Vivaz Pro would be the last Symbian smart phone they make.

More on Sony Ericsson, the Swedish-Japanese joint venture is pretty proud to announce that they are currently working one new camera technology. The big new number we are all looking at now is 16.5 mega pixels on the IMX081PQ camera (a code which actually matters more to manufacturers than end users).

Simply put, this new camera will be snapping up images with such high detail and quality that you can take a picture of an entire bookshelf and manage to read the author’s name on the spine of that thin gray paperback on the upper right.

UK repair company Anovo has just received accreditation from Sony Ericsson –further providing SE customers with options as to where they can go to have their devices fixed.

Lastly, T-Mobile has confirmed that they are offering the Nokia 5230 as a music phone with unlimited access to the Ovi Music Store. The offer is exclusive only to T-Mobile UK subscribers.
