Despite the fact that the Nokia N9 was supposed to be the first MeeGo handset to be launched by the Finnish phone maker, it appears that the new mobile platform might be first appearing on the Nokia N900.
The MeeGo operating system is a new platform developed by Nokia and Intel. The OS integrates the best features of the Moblin (a Linux based OS by Intel) and the Maemo (an open source OS by Nokia). This new operating system is set to be the main platform for Nokia –effectively pushing aside the Symbian OS.
The continued lack of public interest in the Symbian operating system is not the only reason why Nokia is pushing the MeeGo however. With the Android and iOS slowly dominating the field and the Windows Phone 7 due to be released soon, Nokia needs a new platform on their mobile handsets.
The Nokia N900 is originally a Maemo device; however, it appears that Nokia’s developers have made a way to install both the Maemo and the MeeGo on the handset, providing users with a dual booting mobile phone. So far, the official launch date for the patch has yet to be announced, though it is expected to be available well within the year.

Speaking of the Symbian mobile platform, the Nokia C5-03 has been confirmed as set to launch before the end of 2010. This handset runs the much older Symbian^3 and is only recommended for users who simply want a basic 3G touch screen smart phone. With the Nokia N8 Symbian^3 handset still not yet released, now is definitely the time for Nokia to start building up interest in the Symbian OS. The C5-03 comes packed with a 5 mega pixel camera, a 3.2 inch nHD touch screen display and a pretty decent 1000 mAh battery.
