Spotted in the Wild: Acer Liquid Metal – Deals Expected Soon

October 22nd, 2010 by Caroline

The smartphone rumoured to be joining Acer’s range of Liquid handsets has been spotted once more online.

The Acer Liquid Metal was first leaked back in September and now photos of the device have been published on the DroidSans website. The latest images point to an official announcement by Acer soon, possibly later this month, with Liquid Metal deals arriving in the UK soon after.

If you’re a fan of the original Liquid or Liquid e smartphone, you’re bound to appreciate the newest Acer. Although details are unconfirmed at this stage, the Liquid Metal will boast an aluminium frame – a design that is increasingly popular given the recent launches of the Nokia N8 and C7, and the HTC Desire HD.

Other features should include a 3.6 inch display, Android 2.2 OS, an 800MHz processor, Dolby Mobile technology, and Bluetooth connectivity.

When this Acer was spotted in the wild, two other devices were seen alongside it – a tablet device and a smartphone. The Acer tablet is expected to have a 9 or 10 inch screen, which would mean it is set to compete with the Apple iPad, and to run on Google’s Android OS. Other than this, little is known about the tablet or the other smartphone, but Acer is thought to unveil the tablet early next year.

Rumours online are that Acer will release the Liquid Metal in time for Christmas. Will you be adding this handset to your wish list? If this proves true, the phone will face much competition as other high-end devices are scheduled or anticipated to launch in time for Christmas – for example, there’s the white iPhone 4, Palm Pre 2, BlackBerry 9780 and Samsung Wave II.
